RAF 100: Memorial at Lincoln Cathedral

People can now visit the Airman’s Chapel of St Michael

Lincoln Cathedral is inviting visitors to pay their respects to the 25,611 RAF personnel who lost their lives as part of Bomber Command.

In a video released by Lincoln Cathedral as part of the RAF 100 celebrations, viewers are offered a peek at the Airmen’s Chapel of St Michael and its tribute to Lincolnshire’s fallen heroes.

The video shows the Book of Remembrance, which immortalises the name of every fallen serviceman as well as an impressive stain glass window tribute, one of four decorative memorials in the chapel.

The Cathedral has a poignant link to the county’s RAF heritage as pilots seeing it on the horizon knew they had made it home to Lincolnshire safety.
