As a 3.9-magnitude earthquake centred in North-East Lincolnshire, social media users from Lincoln took to Facebook to share their experiences.

The British Geological Survey say the earthquake happened at 11.14pm on Saturday, at a depth of 18 kilometres.

Hundreds of people took to social media to talk about what they had felt, but here are some of the funniest comments shared on The Lincolnite Facebook page.

Karen Smith thought that it was her teenagers coming downstairs:

“I thought it was the teenagers upstairs coming down for supper… wondered why I didn’t hear them going back upstairs.”

Nicola Phillips said she could not feel the earthquake:

“Gosh no! I do live in Spain now so I’m not surprised [that] I didn’t feel it! Lol.”

Carley Dennis thought that it was someone running upstairs:

“I thought it was Andrew Izzy running up the stairs.”

Kerry Lord Boardman said he would like to apologise to Lincolnshire:

“I would like to apologise. I had beans and eggs for tea.”

Angie Hart thought that it was a ghost:

“I felt it in Birchwood, Lincoln and my ornaments started to move. I though I had a ghost.”

Allen Foster said that he needed some time off work after the earthquake:

“Yeah, [felt it in] Doddington Park so taking a week’s leave from work now from the shock.”
