Death of man found in Scunthorpe lake “not suspicious”

A file has been prepared for Her Majesty’s Coroner

The death of a man whose body was found in the lake at Ashby Ville in Scunthorpe this week is not being treated as suspicious by police.

As previously reported, the body found in the water near the steel works at the Ashby Ville Nature Reserve in Scunthorpe on Monday, July 23 was identified as 23-year-old local man Maciej Dymowski.

Humberside Police said earlier in the week that there had been some speculation that his death may have been caused by the blue green algae outbreak, but they were unable to say if this was a factor.

The force released another statement on Thursday, July 26, confirming the outcome of their investigation, which said: “We do not believe the circumstances of his death are suspicious and we have prepared a file for Her Majesty’s Coroner for their investigations.”
