Pictures reveal aftermath of A46 lorry sugar spillage

The road remains closed

The A46 at Thorpe on the Hill near Lincoln remains closed after a lorry overturned and spilt sugar syrup across the carriageway.

As reported previously, the duel carriageway was closed in both directions after the tanker flipped over at around 11am on Monday, July 9.

The driver of the lorry, a man in his 30s from the Slough area, was injured and airlifted to Queen’s Medical Centre.

No other vehicles were involved.

Syrup was spilt across both sides of the carriageway and there was some damage to the central reservation and street lights.

Fallen barrels also lay on the road, where recovery teams have been working for a number of hours.

Highways England put a closure and diversions in place between the A1133 and the A1434.
