Water drop and streaking: Ecstatic fans celebrate England win

Sore heads today still

England fans across the country were manically celebrating after the penalty shootout victory over Colombia in the round of 16 of the World Cup on Tuesday night… and Lincoln and the county were no different.

People in Lincoln’s Engine Shed, which showed the match on a 25 foot screen, proudly sang the national anthem ahead of the game.

Others dropped into the Brayford in celebration and in video footage someone in the background is heard commenting that they’d appear in The Lincolnite the next day… well, he wasn’t wrong.

Residents of Boston and Gainsborough were reportedly seen streaking in celebration after the match.

England looked destined for victory in normal time after Harry Kane’s penalty, but Yerry Mina’s injury time goal took the game into extra time and then penalties, which the Three Lions won in dramatic style.

Let’s hope there will be plenty more for Lincolnshire England fans to celebrate in Saturday’s quarter final against Sweden!
