307 home ‘garden village’ to complement Lincolnshire Lakes

61 properties will be allocated as affordable homes

A 307 home garden village plan to ‘complement’ the £1.2 billion Lincolnshire Lakes project in Scunthorpe has been proposed.

The proposal lodged to North Lincolnshire Council would see the development built on the former brickworks on Scotter Road South, Bottesford.

Submitted by DLP Planning Ltd, the plan seeks permission for the homes plus landscaping, layout and appearance including public open space.

The site will sit close to the Lincolnshire Lakes project which looks to build more than 6,000 homes by creating six villages in a waterside setting.

Works for flood defences and the first lake of the development began in late 2017.

Meanwhile, improvements have also been proposed to widen Moor Road to the north of the site, as well as introducing signals for the Scotter Road South, Moor Road and Moorwell Lane junction.

The applicants said that the widening of Moor Road would also help public access to the fourth village of the Lakes project.

They added that 61 of the properties on site will be allocated as affordable homes.

In a design and access statement, they said that the proposal will help to complement the upcoming Lakes development.

It said: “It is concluded that the proposals represent a sustainable form of development which will relate well to the Lincolnshire Lakes development scheme and delivers provision of much needed housing in a district which has experienced ongoing problems in meeting its housing need.”
