Fraudster poses as police officer to steal almost £10k

An elderly man was targeted for £10,000

A fraudster who claimed to be from Lincolnshire Police asked his victim to withdraw nearly £10,000 for collection in Skegness.

The 76-year-old victim in Wainfleet, Saint Mary answered a phone call from someone claiming to be ‘detective superintendent Felix.’

‘Felix’ then told the victim that an investigation was taking place and that his bank account was compromised.

The victim was asked to withdraw £9,500 from the bank. A ‘courier’ then arrived at his home to collect the cash.

A force spokesperson said: “All of the individuals involved in this incident were impersonators and not real police officers.”

Lincolnshire Police are appealing for information about the man pictured in the CCTV images as they believe he can help with their investigations.

The police say that the man can help with their investigation and are asking anyone with information to contact them quoting incident number 383 of 07/08/2018.
