Adam Crookes has joined Lincoln City on a season-long loan deal from Nottingham Forest.
The Lincoln-born left-sided defender, who can also play in midfield, had been on trial with the Imps during pre-season.
The 20-year-old, who went to the Priory City of Lincoln Academy, featured in the Imps’ pre-season friendlies against Norwich and Sheffield Wednesday and continued to train with Danny Cowley’s men.
He also started in defence in the Imps’ 2-0 win against Derby County’s Under-23s this week.
Lincoln City manager Danny Cowley said: “He can play left-centre half, holding midfield, he’s got a real versatility and there’s no doubt he’s going to make the very best of his ability.
“Of all the boys, the young players are the ones who have A-Star attitude and you always want them in and around the building.”
Crookes will wear the number 20 shirt and will be available for Saturday’s League Two opener at Northampton.
