Reported stabbing ‘not suspicious’, say police

She sustained serious abdominal injuries

A woman was airlifted to hospital with what was understood to be stab wounds after an incident on Cleethorpes seafront, but police are not treating it as suspicious.

As previously reported, crowds of onlookers saw police set up a cordon around a section on the sands near the North Promenade on Monday, August 13.

People at the scene posted on social media that a woman was found “with knife wounds”.

Cleethorpes Coastguard confirmed on its Facebook page that they assisted police and EMAS with the casualty, who sustained serious abdominal injuries.

A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “We were called to the Promenade, Cleethorpes, at around 4.15pm yesterday (August 13) following reports of concerns for the safety of a woman.

“She was airlifted to Hull Royal Infirmary for treatment for serious injuries by the Coastguard.

“While we are still investigating the circumstances of the incident, we do not believe it to be suspicious.

“We would like to thank all those in the area for their co-operation and patience whilst we deal with the incident and those who have come forward with information.”

EMAS sent a LIVES paramedic, two paramedics in fast response cars, a double crewed ambulance and the Coastguard Search and Rescue helicopter.

Paramedics travelled with the Coastguard crew to Hull Royal Infirmary.
