Your guide to Lincoln Steampunk Festival 2018

Are you excited!?

From Friday, Lincoln will be teeming with steam-powered machinery, Victorian vixens, Wild West hooligans and fantastic beasts.

The 10th annual Asylum Lincoln Steampunk Festival from Friday, August 24 to Monday, August 27 is a Mecca for cyberpunk fans of all breeds and will offer three days of events, fashion, culture and art.

The Asylum is the largest and longest running steampunk festival on the planet and attracts participants from all corners of the world and is run by the Victorian Steampunk Society.

It celebrates a fantasy genre depicting a steam powered world in the late 19th century and fictional machines and contraptions.

The programme across Bank Holiday weekend includes art, literature, music, fashion, comedy and simple good fun.

A particular highlight will be the Costume Parade and Promenade in the Lincoln Castle and Bailgate area. The military parade, featuring the Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service band, will be at Lincoln Castle on Sunday at 10am. The Bailgate Parade will be on Monday at 10am. This will be free to spectate.

Wacky Racers will also take on others in the grounds of Lincoln Castle, many showing off their home-made vehicles.
