The collision involving two lorries happened at around 3.30am on Thursday, September 6.

One of the HGVs, a curtain sided 40 foot DAF spilled a load of blue powdered paint across the road.

The second lorry did not stop at the scene but police caught it up further down the road.

“The second HGV, a Mercedes Benz, did not stop at the scene but has been traced further up the A1 near Newark.

“No-one has been injured in the collision. A diversion is being put in place and we ask that, where possible, people avoid the area until both lanes are re-opened.”
