Lorry sheds powdered paint load in A1 crash

The second lorry did not stop at the scene.

One lane of the A1 northbound at Dry Doddington will be closed for most of the day after a lorry shed its load of powdered paint in a crash.

The collision involving two lorries happened at around 3.30am on Thursday, September 6.

One of the HGVs, a curtain sided 40 foot DAF spilled a load of blue powdered paint across the road.

The second lorry did not stop at the scene but police caught it up further down the road.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesperson said: “The carriageway needs to be cleaned and we are advised this will take some time.

“The second HGV, a Mercedes Benz, did not stop at the scene but has been traced further up the A1 near Newark.

“No-one has been injured in the collision. A diversion is being put in place and we ask that, where possible, people avoid the area until both lanes are re-opened.”

Traffic is very heavy in the area
