Man running from police falls from roof

He injured his legs and back

A man trying to evade arrest has fallen from a roof of a house in Scunthorpe.

Humberside Police were called to reports of man having stolen some property from a supermarket on Ormsby Road in Scunthorpe during the morning of Monday, September 24.

The man then took to the roof of a terraced house nearby to evade arrest. He subsequently fell from the roof and suffered leg and back injuries before being taken to hospital.

The extent of the injuries are not yet confirmed, but they are not thought to be life-threatening, police said.

Chief Inspector at Humberside Police Sharon Harrison said: “We have said on numerous occasions before about the dangers of suspects taking to the roof to avoid arrest.

“It was only going to be a matter of time before someone fell and injured themselves.

“He will be taken to hospital to have his injuries treated and following that he will be questioned in relation to the theft and other offences he is wanted in connection with.”
