New Humber power station energy centre would create 50 jobs

It would directly create around 50 new permanent jobs

A new energy centre is being planned on undeveloped land at the site at South Humber Bank Power Station in North East Lincolnshire.

The energy centre, to be known as the EP South Humber Bank Energy Centre, would be powered by Refuse Derived Fuel.

EP UK Investments (EPUKI) acquired South Humber Bank Power Station, which is located in Stallingborough, from Ceentrica in 2017.

EP SHB is a subsidiary of EPUKI, which owns and operates a number of power stations including Langage power station and Lynemouth power station, which has been converted to biomass.

The company recently completed a £53 million programme of investment to improve its efficiency and extend its operational life.

This has secured over 70 existing jobs and would directly create around 50 permanent new jobs and would represent an investment of around £300m within the area.

The existing power station would not be affected by the energy centre proposals.

EP UK Investments hope a planning application for the Energy Centre proposals will be submitted to North East Lincolnshire Council later this year.

Head of Engineering for EPUKI, James Crankshaw, said: “The UK’s power generation mix is changing and there is a need for new power generation and energy recovery facilities.

“The Energy Centre proposals are designed to meet these needs and also create permanent local jobs. We look forward to receiving the community’s views on our proposals through the project website or in person at our consultation events in September”.

Consultation events to introduce the project will be held on Thursday and Friday, September 13-14 2018 – for more information click here.
