Driver evading police crashes into parked cars in Lincoln

Police cars, a van and a helicopter were at the scene

Residents said they heard a loud bang and shouts of “taser” after a driver, who had failed to stop for police, crashed into a parked car in Lincoln.

Three police cars, one van and a police helicopter were spotted in the Yarborough Road area by shocked onlookers after the collision Thursday, October 4 just after 2.30pm.

Some of Richmond Road was coned off near to Ashlin Grove.

There was a big police presence on Richmond Road in Lincoln on Thursday afternoon.

One eyewitness, who wanted to remain anonymous, told The Lincolnite: “I heard more than what I saw. I heard tyres screech, a bang, few seconds gap then shouts of “taser” a few times.

“Someone has said he tried to run away but we’ve just seen a helicopter overhead.

“A grey mercedes was being searched. The road is blocked by the Dhindsa Store on the corner of Richmond Road and Hampton Street.”

The suspect’s car was recovered shortly before 4pm.

An eye witness saw the suspect’s car being recovered.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: “A silver Mercedes-Benz on Carline Road, Lincoln, failed to stop for police at 2.44pm today (October 4) and then collided with a stationary vehicle (a blue VW Passat), on Ashlin Grove.

“The Mercedes-Benz had also collided with another vehicle on Yarborough Road. The driver of the Mercedes-Benz have been detained.”
