Fast track rail career path for North Lincolnshire students

“An exciting new partnership”

Students at a college in North Lincolnshire can now be fast-tracked into a career in high speed rail and transport.

The Engineering UTC in Scunthorpe has recently agreed a partnership with the National College for High Speed Rail in Doncaster which is among the five largest national colleges created by the government.

Students will get the opportunity to learn their trade using state of the art facilities including virtual reality technology and touch screen interactive whiteboards.

The new partnership means Engineering UTC students will be able to enjoy a tour of the college, assistance with application forms and the potential to benefit from financial assistance with their studies.

Marc Doyle, CEO and Principal of the Engineering UTC North Lincolnshire said: “We’re hugely excited about this partnership with the National College for High Speed Rail as we believe it’s home to the best learning facilities and most advanced learning equipment in Great Britain.”

The National College for High Speed Rail launched the UK’s first ever Certificate of Higher Education in High Speed Rail and Infrastructure in partnership with Sheffield Hallam University last year. The college is now also running the Foundation Degree in High Speed Rail and Infrastructure and is looking to expand to offering the full BSc degree in 2019.

Clair Mowbray, chief executive for High Speed Rail said: “We’re very excited about this partnership because the Engineering UTC North Lincolnshire has proven itself to be an excellent institution which offers high-quality learning and outcomes for its students.”
