Week of road closures set for Lincoln village

The work will begin next week

Drivers in Skellingthorpe, off the A46 near Lincoln, will face a week of road closures next week due to rebuilding works on five streets.

Redwing Close, Magpie Close, Woodpecker Close, Lapwing Close and Mallard Close are all set to be rebuilt.

The roads will be closed while the work takes place, which is due to begin on Monday, October 22 and is expected to be completed by Saturday, October 27.

Executive Member for Highways Councillor Richard Davies said: “We have a number of residential roads across the county that are reaching the end of their life.

“As opposed to just filling in the potholes, we’re spending around £1m on rebuilding them. That way they should last a lot longer and require less maintenance.

“The work has been scheduled for the half-term break to minimise the impact on the nearby primary school.

“There will be some local disruption during the improvements, but the short-term inconvenience will be far outweighed by the long-term benefits.”
