Woman dies after shopping centre crash

It happened last weekend

A woman has died as a result of her injuries after crash at the Birchwood Shopping Centre last week.

As previously reported, a collision between a light blue Citroen Xsara and a pedestrian, a woman in her 70s, who sustained serious injuries, happened just after 2pm on Saturday, October 6.

The vehicle also collided with four other vehicles, police said.

Reports previously surfaced on social media that the driver appeared to “lose control”, hitting a number of parked cars and the pedestrian.

Police were unable to comment on the driver’s condition, but said there was “no suggestion” of a heart attack despite claims made online.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: “The driver of the vehicle was initially arrested and then released. He will be interviewed in due course by the investigation team.”
