‘Excellent’ Chinese restaurant gets one star hygiene rating

Staff were told that “major improvement” is needed

An “excellent” Chinese restaurant has been given a ‘one’ food hygiene rating in a recent inspection.

Shoo Cuisine on Clasketgate is highly rated on some review sites, but was given one of the lowest possible hygiene ratings by the City of Lincoln Council.

The staff were told that “improvement” was needed in the way that they prepare food and how they clean the restaurant.

Its low rating was made up of three factors:

  • Hygienic food handling – Including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage – Improvement necessary
  • Cleanliness and condition of facilities and building –Including having appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control to enable good food hygiene –Improvement necessary
  • Management of food safety – System or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety, and the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future – Major improvement necessary

The Chinese restaurant has been given 4.5 stars from visitor reviews on TripAdvisor.

Shoo Cuisine joins The Taste as one of the lowest rated restaurants in the city for their food hygiene.

The Lincolnite contacted Shoo Cuisine but no one was available for comment about the inspection outcome.
