Fortnight of Skegness roadworks from next week

Traffic will be diverted

Drivers in Skegness will face two weeks of road closures and diversions due to roadworks starting next week.

The second phase of improvements of the £200,000 project will begin on Scarborough Avenue in Skegness on Monday December 3, with the road set to be resurfaced.

The road will be closed, with traffic diverted via either Lumley Road or Castleton Boulevard to Grand Parade.

The work is expected to be completed by Monday, December 17, weather permitting.

It follows the recent reconstruction of the footways along the route.

Jeanne Gibson, programme leader for minor works and traffic at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “The carriageway on Scarborough Avenue has deteriorated over the years and needs to be repaired.

“The project is likely to mean some local disruption, for which we apologise in advance. We recommend motorists allow additional time for their journeys and use alternative routes wherever possible.

“However, we’re confident that the short-term inconvenience will be greatly outweighed by the long-term benefits.”
