Volunteers clean up Lincoln river rubbish

Great work by the team

Volunteers used a canoe to collect several bags of rubbish from a Lincoln river.

The group were out on Saturday, November 17 cleaning up the Sincil Drain waterways.

While collecting bags of rubbish, the volunteers managed to remove a dead swan from the area.

The swan was believed to have suffered a broken neck and was bagged up by the team before they informed the authorities.

“The river forms a wildlife corridor through the city centre and allows us to share to joys of all creatures which use them.

“It is thanks to local residents and other volunteers that we are able to keep these areas clean and accessible.”

More than 50 volunteers have supported the group in 2018 to clean the streets and waterways in the Sincil Bank area.
