Vulnerable victim mugged by Lincoln phone thief

Extra patrols will take place on Monks Road

A Lincoln man was allegedly grabbed and threatened before being robbed of his phone on Monks Road on Monday evening.

He had just left the Dog and Bone pub on John Street and was heading home when he was grabbed and threatened at around 8pm.

The vulnerable victim handed over his phone, but was left with no injuries, police said.

The offender was described as white, wearing a black jacket and was riding a bicycle accompanied by a black Labrador.

A man in his 20s has been taken into custody on suspicion of robbery.

An incident matching these details was posted about by Will Sleight in the Facebook group ‘You’re probably from Lincoln if…’ after his friend Oliver Wells was targeted in the city.

Will Sleight has since set up a Just Giving page where he says he is attempting to raise £500 to get the victim a new phone and ‘show him Lincoln cares’.

The fundraising page highlights that he relies on his phone heavily to be able to communicate.

At the time of writing it has raised £273.

Extra police patrols

As a precaution extra patrols will take place on Monks Road over the next few days.

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information should contact police on 101 or via email at [email protected] quoting incident number 344 of November 19.
