Drunk tank in Lincoln for Mad Friday

It’s designed for those who drink too much

A drunk tank has launched for Lincoln revellers who have had too much to drink over the festive period.

It has launched on what is commonly known as Mad Friday, where people go out to celebrate the last day of work before Christmas.

But the NHS drunk tank is there for people who have gone too far and can be checked in to sleep off the alcohol.

The mobile unit will be on Silver Street, where those who have had too much to drink can go instead of ending up in hospital.

It will be staffed by a mixture of police, paramedics and St John Ambulance workers.

Around £300,000 has been set aside for the specialised units to ease pressure on A&E over the festive period.
