One day left to sign save RAF Scampton petition

Petitions need 100,000 signatures to be considered for a debate in Parliament, can Lincoln do it?

There is just one day left to sign a petition which called for the decision to close RAF Scampton to be reversed.

All petitions run for six months, and the “Reverse the decision to close RAF Scampton” has a deadline of January 31, 2019.

You can sign the here, alongside more than 20,500 people.

It passed the 10,000 signatures threshold and will get a response from the government, but it needs around 80,000 more to trigger a debate in Parliament.

As previously reported, the Ministry of Defence confirmed that the base would be sold off and the Red Arrows moved.

The air base, which is currently home to 600 members of staff, is expected to close by 2022.
