Plan to demolish Boston pub for flats

Plans have been submitted to Boston Borough Council to demolish a former town centre pub in order to make way for 18 new apartments.

Proposals by Framework Housing Association would see the former Duke of York on Lincoln Lane flattened as part of the project.

The pub was recently bought by the Nottingham-based charity who provide housing, care and employment services.

Under the plans, 18 one bedroom supported living flats would be built on the site.

The ground floor of the development would include training and staff facilities for those who work for Framework.

The developer said in their plans that the proposal will help to support vulnerable adults in the town and help to provide short term housing for those people.

It said: “This proposed development represents a significant enhancement of those services, and an opportunity to develop far more effective joint working between agencies in their delivery.

“The 18 self-contained single-person flats will provide safe short-term accommodation for residents, while the communal areas on the ground floor will accommodate staff and, most importantly, provide space for one-to-one and group support and advice sessions with residents, provided by both Framework staff, and those from relevant local agencies.”
