Prolific burglars jailed for 12 years

They targeted nine houses in a day

Two prolific burglars who targeted houses across Lincolnshire and Leicestershire have been jailed for over 12 years.

Mick Connors, 49, of Arbour View Court, Northampton, and Patrick James Cash, 49, of Elizabeth Road, Rothwell, pleaded guilty to nine charges of burglary.

All the offences occurred at properties in Lincolnshire and Leicestershire on 4 July last year.

Five of the burglaries in Exeter Gardens, Stamford, Colby Road, Thursmaston, Beeby Road, Scraptoft, The Ridgeway, Market Harborough, and Thornton Crescent, Market Harborough, were committed with the intent to steal jewellery.

A sixth burglary in Buckminster Lane, Skillington, was committed with the intent to steal money.

Three other burglaries also occurred in Winterton Close, Thursmaston, Charnwood Drive, Thurnby, and Greenbank Road, Leicester.

Judge Andrew Easteal jailed the pair when they appeared at Lincoln Crown Court on Friday.

Cash was sentenced to seven and half years imprisonment, and Connors was jailed for five years and three months.

Speaking after case Detective Inspector Jon Shield said: “The pair were prolific as they targeted houses around the region. Targeting properties and taking anything they could find was their sole aim.

“They were finally detained after we received a report of a burglary in Stamford. Later on 4 July, a Blue VW Golf, matching the description of the vehicle used in the burglary, was seen. It made off from officers and entered the Rushden area. The two offenders were then detained.

“This investigation has finally seen these two men face justice at court.

“I hope this case offers reassurance and also warns anyone who looks to commit crime, that we will do everything in our power to catch you and secure enough evidence to convict you of your crimes.”
