Teens charged over attempted hammer robbery

Significant damage was caused to the shop

Two teenagers have been charged after an attempted hammer robbery at a Lincoln shop.

As previously reported, four males entered the Ampal store on Sincil Bank with two hammers at around 9.25pm on Monday, January 28. One of the offenders threatened a victim with a hammer and demanded money.

After a struggle over the till, all four offenders left the store without taking anything, although they caused significant damage to the premises.

Two males, aged 18 and 15, were arrested in connection with the incident who have now been charged.

Connor Day, 18, of Yarborough Road, Lincoln and a 15-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were charged with attempted robbery, criminal damage and possession of an offensive weapon.

They were due to appear at Lincoln Magistrates Court today (January 31).
