Event to celebrate Lincolnshire’s visitor and heritage potential

The Business Lincolnshire Growth Hub will be celebrating all things tourism next month with their latest flagship conference ‘Heritage Works for Lincolnshire’, taking place at the picturesque Doddington Hall on March 27.

Businesses are invited to come along and hear from a range of experts in the visitor economy sector, with keynote speaker BBC‘s Dr Jonathan Foyle, presenter of Climbing Great Buildings, heading the line-up for the event.

The morning event aims to highlight what the natural east coast has to offer, how the industry can prepare for the influx of US visitors thanks to Mayflower 400 celebrations, potential opportunities with Discover England Funding and hear about new digital marketing tools that can be used to attract new and repeat customers.  There will also be opportunity for tours of the venue and stories around the heritage of the historic Doddington Hall.

The Lincolnshire potential for tourism has been at the forefront of some fantastic developments of late, including the opening of the North Sea Observatory at Chapel St Leonards last July. The new attraction hosts exhibitions to highlight the area’s local history and hopes to provide a boost for local visitor economy.  Mary Powell, Tourism Development Manager, Lincolnshire County Council, will be shining a light on the natural coast at the conference, as an underutilised asset for Lincolnshire.

Councillor Colin Davie, Executive Member for Economic Development at Lincolnshire County Council, explained “There is so much to celebrate in terms of the history and heritage in the county, with many hidden gems and beauty hotspots. It really is an ideal base for businesses in the tourism sector and we have a fantastic amount of these already residing in Greater Lincolnshire. The potential for growth in the sector is huge and we want to help businesses capitalise on that.”
