JYSK prepares to leave St Marks for new store

All staff will relocate to the new store

Furniture store JYSK will relocate from St Marks to a brand new, bigger and better Lincoln store in May 2019.

As previously reported, the Danish-owned global furniture store chose Lincoln as one of its first UK stores, but St Marks will be redeveloped into student accommodation, parking, new shops and leisure spaces.

JYSK will open at its new premises at a purpose built site on Deacon Road near to the Carlton Centre on Saturday, May 4. All staff will relocate to the new store.

The current store in the St Marks area of Lincoln will close on April 14.

Lincoln’s new JYSK at the Deacon Retail Park will be a Concept 3.0 store. This means it will offer “room set inspirations and aspirational product groupings”.

As previously reported, Lincoln chartered surveyor Banks Long & Co pre-let the largest of the new units being built at the retail park to B&M Bargains.

This will anchor the scheme alongside the new JYSK store.

Associate Director at Banks Long & Co Lewis Cove said: “We have completed the leasing of the smaller unit on the site to Sue Ryder and expect the charity to start fitting this out next week.

“We expect to complete the leasing of B&M’s unit, imminently and that the company will be moving on site in the near future. JYSK is also expected to shortly start fitting out its new premises before potentially opening in early May.”

The surveyors also previously said they expected to complete pre-letting the remaining 5,000 square foot unit on the site to another well-known name. It has yet to be confirmed who that company is.

The Deacon Road Retail Park is a joint venture between Castle Square Developments and builder Lindum Construction.
