Behind bars: Lincolnshire criminals locked up in April

A woman jailed for her partner’s death and a Skegness woman who involved her son in a cocaine and heroin drugs operation were among those jailed this month.

Here’s a summary of notable court reports from April:

Alison Skingsly

Alison Skingsly, 43, from Spalding was jailed for 10 years after driving 200 metres with her partner clinging to the bonnet of her car before breaking sharply.

She claimed she suddenly applied the brakes on her Peugeot 307 to avoid a pigeon. A jury rejected her defence and found her guilty of manslaughter after hearing Skingsly became convinced her partner, Kevin Nix, was flirting with another woman in the Crowland pub where they were drinking.

A Skegness woman who involved her son in a cocaine and heroin drugs operation was jailed for four years and seven months.

Mary Jane Wilson, 39, was caught supplying heroin and cocaine onto the streets of Skegness by undercover police. The judge said she was at the heart of the drug dealing offering to supply customers on a 24/7 basis.

Her son, Mason Wilson, 19, of Sundial Way, Skegness, was given 16 months at a young offenders’ institution.

Matthew Parsley, Jack Mahl and Steven Barnes.

Wilson’s partner Jack Mahl, 24, was jailed for three years.

Matthew Parsley, 28, of Low Edges Crescent, Sheffield; and Steven Barnes, 43, of no fixed address, were each jailed for four years.

Katy Murray, 25, of Firbeck Avenue, Skegness was given a 15 month jail sentence suspended for two years.

Borge Bradwell, Daniel Charnock and Gavin Dyball

Borge Bradwell, Daniel Charnock and Gavin Dyball were sentenced to a combined total of nearly 40 years in prison after a vicious attack on a 65-year-old man in his own home.

The man was left injured on the floor of his back room after the attack. Bradwell and Charnock demanded money and when he didn’t hand it over they hit him with a baseball bat.

Dyball was with the pair before they broke into the house and was seen standing as a lookout on the street whilst the attack was happening.

Stephen Winter

Stephen Winter, 45, of Millers Road, Waddington, Lincoln, was jailed for eight years after he was found guilty of the sexual abuse of four children in the 1990s.

During the six-day trial Nottingham Crown Court heard that Winter had abused the four girls over a number of years in Nottinghamshire.

Kieran Clayton

Kieran Clayton was jailed for 18 months. Lincolnshire Police

A drunk who punched a teenager when violence erupted outside a nightclub could have killed his victim, Lincoln Crown Court was told.

Kieran Clayton, 21, of Manor Road, London Colney, St Albans was jailed for 18 months. He was involved in a fight outside The Assembly Rooms in Boston Market Place when he turned and punched Liam Chandler, 19, who he wrongly believed was a member of another group involved in the dispute.

Julian Mabbut

A big money fraudster who targeted customers at banks across the country, including in Lincoln, Grantham and Scunthorpe, was jailed for three and a half years.

Julian Mabbut, 47, was spotted on CCTV by a specialist fraud prevention unit after he took money from 80 banks and building societies across the country. He used fake ID to withdraw money from accounts and over the three year period he managed to take £152,000.

Robert Sewell

Robert Sewell, 32, formerly of Tattershall but now living at Hickford Hill, Belchamp St Paul, Essex, was jailed for two years after breaking into his ex’s home and attacking her and her new man on New Year’s Eve.

Sewell kept a key to her home and broke in during the early hours of the morning. He punched his ex’s new man in the face and shouted abuse at her.

Curtis Hood

Curtis Hood has been jailed.

Curtis Hood, 36, of Dale Road, Matlock, who attacked his partner in the street leaving her face covered in blood, was jailed for 20 months.

Hood carried out the assault on Claire Johnson after the couple fell out while visiting Gainsborough. She was taken to hospital with a badly bruised face and a black eye.

Matthew Dye

Matthew Dye has a long history of offences.

Matthew Dye, 33, of no fixed address, was jailed for two years after holding up a building society in Spalding town centre.

Dye covered his face in a bid to disguise his appearance before he walked into the Nottingham Building Society in Sheep Market in the town and demanded cash. Just over £1,000 in notes was placed in a bag provided by Dye.

A burglar who targeted empty homes faces deportation after being locked up by a judge.

Rafal Lipiak, 20, of no fixed address admitted three charges of burglary and failing to answer to bail. He was sent to a young offenders’ institution for a total of 13 months and he will be deported half way through his sentence.

Mia-Bella Smith

Mia-Bella Smith, previously known as Natalie Taylor

A drug user was caught raiding a Gainsborough house and packing stolen goods into carrier bags.

Mia-Bella Smith, 33, previously known as Natalie Taylor, stole a laptop, television, clothes and food after breaking into the property in Stanley Street in the town. Smith was jailed for a total of 28 months.
