Fork lift used in botched ATM ram raid

Thieves abandoned and set alight the 4×4 they used

A fork lift truck and a 4×4 car were both used to ram a shop in a botched ATM raid.

Police were called at 2.34am on Tuesday, April 16 to a Lincolnshire Co-op store in Crowland.

Nothing was taken in the failed theft, but the shop suffered serious structural damage.

Lincolnshire Police found a burnt out Mitsubishi 4×4 at the junction of West Bank in the town. A fork lift truck was also abandoned just outside the shop.

They are investigating whether both vehicles were stolen locally before the raid. It is believed the thieves approached the shop from the river on West Street.

Anyone with information about the ATM break or the burnt out vehicle is being urged to call 101 and quote incident 25 of April 16.

There’s been a recent string of ATM raids across the county in Scotter, North Somercotes and Spalding.
