Inspectors give Lincoln pizza takeaway low hygiene rating

The manager is confident he can get the rating back up

A Lincoln pizza takeaway had its food hygiene score dropped to one out of five after an inspection.

Pizza Palace on Monks Road was inspected on February 27. The biggest issue raised was regarding the management of food safety where major improvement is necessary.

This is a dip in rating from the score of two out of five the takeaway received in August 2017.

Improvement was also deemed necessary in hygienic food handling. However, the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building was deemed ‘very good’.

Manager Mahdi Razaye told The Lincolnite that during the inspection a burger was put on the grill and a staff member didn’t wash their hands. They were also told about wearing hair nets and both issues have been resolved.

The records in the safety hygiene book were also flagged up but he is confident they can get the rating back up soon.

He said: “We do as much as we can, everything is changing. The owner is changing soon. We are hoping we can get a high score again soon, and hope for a 4 or 5 next time.”
