New Lincoln Costa coffee drive-thru plans submitted

It would be located off Wragby Road

A planning application to build a new Costa Coffee drive-thru in Lincoln has been submitted to the city council by Lincolnshire Co-op.

Lincolnshire Co-op is applying for planning permission to build the drive-thru and coffee shop facility on a site on the corner of Wragby Road and Outer Circle Road in Lincoln.

The land was previously home to a pub building which closed for trading in 2009 and was demolished in 2014.

There are currently two entrances to the site. Under the proposed plans the entrance closest to the junction would be removed. Site access would come from a widened entrance further along Wragby Road.

The car park at the site would be relaid and reconfigured to provide 48 spaces. It currently serves three other commercial units on Wragby Road.

Costa Coffee also runs an outlet within the nearby Carlton Centre retail outlet which would continue to trade when the drive-thru opened.

The project is being managed by Banks Long and Co.

James Butcher, from Lincolnshire Co-op’s Managing Agents Banks Long and Co, said: “This proposed scheme would bring an empty site back into use and give people in Lincoln the benefit of the first Costa Coffee drive-thru in the city.

“It’s a prominent site which has stood empty for some time and its location on the corner of two busy roads means a service like a drive-thru would prove popular.”
