Woman seriously injured after Scunthorpe assault

She suffered potentially life-changing injuries

A woman was taken to hospital with serious and potentially life-changing injuries after an alleged assault over the weekend.

Humberside Police attended the scene at Glanville Avenue in Scunthorpe after what was described as a serious assault of a woman at around 2.45pm on Sunday, April 28.

A scene guard was previously put in place to allow police to carry out their investigations.

A man was arrested and taken to custody on suspicion of assault. Abdul Alim, 29, of Pasture Road in Leeds has now been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, threatening someone with a knife and two counts of criminal damage.

He appeared at Grimsby Magistrates Court during the morning of Monday, April 29.

Inspector Paul French said: “I know people will feel concerned but I want to reassure the residents of the Glanville Avenue area that we believe this is an isolated incident and that we have a man in custody on suspicion of assault.”
