Police appeal as Boston murder probe continues

Information or footage can be uploaded anonymously via a portal

Detectives are appealing for information and recorded footage as they continue to investigate the murder of Boston man Darren Birks.

As previously reported, the 40-year-old died following an assault in Boston which sparked a murder investigation. The assault happened on Ingram Road in Boston at 9.45pm on April 29.

Cole Newark, 20, of Witham Bank in Boston, was previously arrested and charged in connection with the assault and remanded in custody.

Now police are appealing for information or footage, which can be uploaded anonymously via a portal here.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who was in the Ingram Road/Shaw Road area of Boston between 9pm-10pm on April 29.

Anyone who was that witnessed the assault, knew the victim or saw him that evening, or who has any other information or material, should contact police.

Detective Chief Inspector Karl Whiffen from the East Midlands Special Operation Unit said: “Although a man has been charged in connection with the assault, this remains an active investigation and I’m convinced that there are members of the public who have valuable information in relation to this case.

“This assault occurred on a public street, near a shop, and it may be the case that members of the public have actually witnessed the assault but not yet come forward.

“Due to the incident occurring on a street, it could also be the case that a members of the public have recorded footage on a device, of the incident itself. I would ask them to provide us with this footage, even if it is before or after the incident.”
