Revamp plans for Lincolnshire dog rescue

The new build will aim to reduce pups’ stress and improve wellbeing

A rescue centre hoping to improve the lives of dogs having a ruff time wants to modernise one of its kennel buildings.

Jerry Green Dog Rescue, in Algarkirk, is asking Boston Borough Council for permission to demolish a 12-kennel building and rebuild a more modern, six-kennel build.

It says that the reduced capacity will be off-set by the improved design with a more relaxing environment, which reduces the levels of stress in the dogs.”

Designs for how the new build will look from the outside.

The charity’s documents say: “The overriding objective of this project is to ensure the charity can deliver a centre of excellence and a quality environment, which is bright and airy and has a spacious feel to it.

“It should also be a place that people enjoy visiting and want to return to.”

Extra landscaping will take place around the buildings to improve the appearance and provide weather protection.

In documents before the council, the centre says: “ The demand for the charity’s services is ever-increasing, as is the demand for better facilities for animals, staff and public.”

Where the new build will go in Jerry Green’s overall map of facilities.

It says the charity has a long-term development programme for all of its centres and the rebuild will enable it to provide “first class facilities for the care and treatment of animals.”

The charity has a number of objectives, including designing premises that support current and future models of care, has modrn fit-for-purpose facilities.

Jerry Green has eight full-time and two part-time staff but also has around 20 regular visitors.
