An annual ball organised by The 1:1 Diet (by Cambridge weight plan) raised £2,000 for the St Barnabas Lincolnshire Hospice charity.
The theme of the annual ball was Vegas glitz and glamour.
The event was held at the White Hart hotel in Lincoln on Saturday, April 27. Guests were invited to an evening of “Vegas glitz and glamour” and enjoyed an evening of celebration for consultants, slimmers, and their friends.
Hosts for the evening were consultants Martin Schoenbeck (centre), Belle Kinsey (left), and Donna Rooney (right).
Also in attendance was Head of Consultant Sales (Uk and ROI), Cliff Jones.
An enjoyable evening was had by all – with a guest appearance by Elvis (Jay Otter).
Special charity casino tables helped raise funds for St Barnabas.
The cheque was presented by the three organisers to Caroline Swindin, Corporate & Community Lead at St Barnabas Hospice
Donna Rooney said: “It was an amazing visit to St Barnabas Hospice to give our donation and see the great work they do. I’m truly humbled and inspired to see the passion, compassion and empathy the staff there have and feel very lucky to have such an amazing service here in Lincolnshire.”
Caroline Swindin said: “I was delighted to attend this fabulous evening organised by Martin, Belle and Donna — on behalf of everyone at St Barnabas we are extremely grateful for this wonderful donation.
“Last year St Barnabas cared and supported 10,500 people throughout Lincolnshire living with a life limiting or terminal illness. This is delivered free of charge to the patient, their family and carers.
“To do this will this year cost £11 million of which we must raise over £5.5 million; it is only with the support and generosity of those in our local communities like Martin, Belle and Donna we can continue to do this; our heartfelt thanks to all involved.”

Whether it is fully centred around Christmas or merely set during the festive period, the choice for best film at this time of year sparks lively debates, including whether Die Hard qualifies to be on the list.

In Lincoln’s quest for a greener future, the city centre’s lack of recycling options stands out as a glaring oversight. Despite the introduction of high-tech, solar-powered ‘super-bins’ on the High Street, capable of holding eight times more waste than traditional bins, the city falls short in providing accessible recycling facilities.
This gap in environmental stewardship leaves eco-conscious residents with limited options for responsible waste disposal, highlighting a critical area for improvement in the city’s sustainability efforts.
