‘Zombie knife’ found in abandoned drug den

Officers raiding a property discovered the deadly weapon

Officers discovered a ‘zombie knife’-style dagger and an axe in a raid on an abandoned drug den in Grimsby.

Humberside Police carried out a warrant on the Churchill Way house on Wednesday, May 1.

Officers smashed the front door down just after 10am, acting on information that the address was linked to drug dealing.

The deadly weapon discovered is commonly known as a zombie knife, which is set to be banned from the UK.

Sergeant Dan Healey from the East Marsh Neighbourhood Policing team said: “We know that when an address is being used to deal or use drugs it can have a significant impact on the wider community and that’s not something we will tolerate in our area.

“We’re committed to tackling this, acting on information we get from the public and prosecuting those who are involved in the trade.

“This morning, although the property now appears to have been abandoned, we found evidence of drug paraphernalia and seized a dagger and an axe.

“We’ve also arranged for the premises to be secured and made safe by Lincolnshire Housing Partnership.”

“I’d lack to thank everyone who has been in touch with information about drug related crime for their continued help and support in letting us know when something is not right in their area.

“Please don’t underestimate how important your information is. If you see lots of people coming and going from a house or lots of new faces, then please get in touch.

“We know it can be frustrating if you call us and it seems like we’re not acting on it but often what’s happening is that it’s being used to build up a bigger picture to help us target offenders more effectively.”

Anyone with information about drug-related crime is being urged to call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
