Dragon Boat race returns to Lincoln next month

Get ready for some oar-some fun

Get ready for some oar-some fun as the annual Lincoln Dragon Boat Challenge returns to the Brayford Waterfront next month with 16 teams taking part.

Several hundred spectators are expected to watch as crews face the thirty foot brightly painted Chinese boats over a 200 metre course along the Brayford.

The event organised by Ringrose Law will take place on Saturday, July 20 from 12pm. There will also be stalls and activities for families to get involved with throughout the day.

Belton Construction won the 2018 race which raised over £6,000 for three charities – LIVES, St Barnabas Hospice and the Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance. Local firm Belton Construction are sponsoring the 2019 event.

This summer crews representing local businesses and organisations from Lincoln and the surrounding area will raise money for the Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance and Nomad, part of YMCA Lincolnshire.

Alex Bennett, organiser of the event from Ringrose Law, said: “We are sure that crews and spectators alike will enjoy a fantastic day of racing. With races every 10/15 minutes throughout the day and plenty of entertainment on the Brayford Waterfront.

“We look forward to another dragon boat spectacular raising money for these great charities.”
