What experiences have you had there?

The Strugglers Inn in Lincoln has been named as the CAMRA Lincolnshire Pub of the Year for 2019.

The pub on Westgate in Lincoln previously beat off competition from 2,700 others to be named Best Cask Ale Pub by Heineken-owned Star Pubs & Bars.

Its successful year continued when judges from the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) visited the winning pubs from each of its branches in the county.

The quality of beer, the atmosphere, service and community focus were assessed before The Strugglers Inn was announced as the winner.

The ceilings of the main bar at the pub known as The Struggs are adorned with pumpclips of beers that have appeared on the bar. The pub also has regular live music on Sunday teatimes.

The Strugglers Inn will now go forward to the East Midlands round of the competition, where it will be up against the best pubs from Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.

The Nobody Inn at Grantham was named as runner-up in the county-wide competition.

The other pubs in contention were:

  • Ebrington Arms in Kirkby on Bain
  • Sweyn Forkbeard in Gainsborough
  • No 2 Refreshment Room in Cleethorpes
  • Consortium in Louth
  • Pooleys in Messingham

Lincoln CAMRA chairman Aaron Joyce, said, “This is a well-deserved accolade for landlady Anna, and her team. They offer an outstanding variety of beers in tip-top condition and provide a warm welcome to locals and visitors to the city. I recently heard some visitors from Cheltenham saying that they wished the pub could be transported the their town.”
