Person seriously injured after crash near Spalding

The road has been closed

One person was seriously injured after a crash on the A16 at Cowbit near Spalding on Wednesday morning.

The road was closed in both directions.

Some reports indicate four vehicles were involved. Lincolnshire Police said the crash involved two vehicles.

It was reported to police at 6.02am on Wednesday, June 19.

It is causing delays after the road was closed in both directions. According to AA Traffic the road remains closed both ways from A1175/B1173 (Applegreen Roundabout) to B1357 Moulton Chapel Road (Cowbit Roundabout).

Eyewitness Charles Turner told Lincolnshire Reporter: “Fire services were first on the scene and multiple police vehicles rushed to the scene.

“The road was secured from the roundabout at Cowbit. Lorry’s were escorted by police while reversing to divert via Mill Drove North Lane.

“The road was still closed at 11am. The diversion is through Cowbit.”

There was a second crash on the A16 involving a bus and a lorry this morning. The crash happened on Spalding Road in Wyberton at 10am on Wednesday, June 19.

Police said there were no injuries.
