Beach returning to Lincoln’s Cornhill this summer

Get your buckets and spades ready

Get your bucket and spades at the ready as an authentic seaside sand-filled beach prepares to return to Lincoln’s Cornhill later this month.

The team at Lincoln BIG will welcome families back to Lincoln By The Sea on July 22. The pop-up beach will stay in place until August 31.

There will be colourful deckchairs to sit and relax in, as well as a children’s roundabout. The beach will be just yards away from shops and kiosks selling ice creams, snacks, toys and magazines.

Families can also watch the early Punch & Judy Shows on Thursday, July 25 and Tuesday, July 30.

The characters will also be appearing in shows on the following dates:

  • Thursday, August 1, 8 and 15
  • Tuesday, August 20
  • Thursday, August 22
  • Tuesday, August 27
  • The final shows will take place on Thursday, August 29

Performances will take place at about 11am in the mornings. There will also be further shows in the afternoon, with the last one taking place at around 3pm.

Lincoln BIG Operations Manager Richard Baxter said: “Children are being urged to remember their buckets and spades! We’ve ordered the authentic seaside sand, there will be plenty of colourful deckchairs place around the beach and we’re going to have a children’s roundabout too.

“We know that Punch & Judy is a much-loved attraction – for the mums and dads as much as the children – so Professor Jon Thursby will also be returning and trying to keep Punch & Judy and their friends in order, whilst providing lots of laughter for everyone.”
