British Steel worker hospitalised after incident

It happened at the company’s Scunthorpe Rail and Section Mill

A British Steel employee has been hospitalised after a serious incident at the Scunthorpe works this weekend.

An investigation has been launched following the incident at the company’s Scunthorpe Rail and Section Mill during the afternoon of Saturday, July 27.

At the time of writing there is no official confirmation as to the nature of the incident.

The Official Receiver said: “A British Steel employee was taken to hospital on Saturday afternoon after he sustained an injury at the company’s Scunthorpe Rail and Section Mill.

“In accordance with British Steel’s standard health and safety procedures, the company has launched an internal investigation into the cause of the incident.”

A spokesperson for EMAS: “We received a call at 4.36pm on July 27 to British Steel in Scunthorpe. The caller reported a medical emergency.

“We sent an ambulance and a LIVES community first responder and a patient was transported to Scunthorpe General Hospital.”
