Ready made council houses to be delivered by lorry

All of the 14 homes will be built away from the town

A lorry will deliver 14 ready made council houses to Grantham.

It is part of a £30 million move to provide more affordable housing in the area over the next five years.

The ten one bedroom units will be lifted into place by a crane after they are built away from the town.

Councillor Barry Dobson, cabinet member for housing at South Kesteven District Council, said: “These projects are designed to bring much-needed affordable housing to the people who really need it.

“We are committed to creating a better quality of life for our residents and this work forms part of our journey to make South Kesteven a place where people want to live, work and invest.

“Affordable housing is one of the key building blocks in ensuring that all of our towns are attractive to residents, visitors and businesses alike.

“Investment and innovation, along with wider regeneration, are key to our vision for the future of this district.”

Plans were approved for the homes by the South Kesteven District Council’s planning committee on June 26.
