Voice of Lincoln: Will Boris deliver Brexit success?

Boris Johnson has been elected as the new PM and it’s getting a lot of people talking

Boris Johnson has been selected by the Conservative Party to serve as the country’s next Prime Minister.

The former London mayor marked a landslide victory over his rival Jeremy Hunt, winning by 92,153 votes compared to 46,656.

He was chosen by Conservative members so the general public did not get a say on who should lead the country.

The Lincolnite went to the High Street to ask what people thought of Boris as the new Tory leader.

Some said that they did not believe Boris’ promises to take the UK out of the EU by October 31 but others gave him their full support.

Andrew Wooton-Jones urged Boris to be inclusive: “Involve Farage, deliver Brexit and get back to making Britain great again.”

Lisa Cook was less supportive: “Oh dear, words fail me. How do people not see through this awful arrogant individual? Our country is now officially a laughing stock. I was once proud to be British!”
