Armed police arrest man ‘riding mobility scooter with handgun’

He was taken to Skegness Police station for questioning

A man in his 60s was arrested after sightings of a man reportedly riding a mobility scooter wielding a handgun in Skegness.

Armed officers were deployed to Clarke Way in Skegness after a call from someone at 4.30pm on Wednesday, July 31 saying a man had been seen with a firearm.

Following enquires a man in his 60s was arrested for an offence under the Firearms Act and assault at around 6.30pm. The man was taken to Skegness Police station for questioning and he remains in custody at the time of writing.

Lincolnshire Police said: “We thank people in the area for their understanding whilst we carried out our operation to arrest the man.”
