Lincoln council gives eviction notice to traveller camp

Council officers visited the encampment

Travellers found camped in caravans in the West End of Lincoln must now legally leave the area after being served an eviction notice by the city council.

As previously reported, readers got in touch with The Lincolnite to report that around 10 caravans gained access to Whitton Park at some point after 3pm on Thursday, August 1.

It is alleged that they broke down a wooden fence on Long Leys Road to gain access to the park.

The City of Lincoln Council carried out assessments of the site and the occupants. Officers attended the encampment at Whitton Park on Tuesday, August 6.

The council said: “The inhabitants are being served with an Order of Possession, which legally requires them to vacate the area.”
