A local pub has been slapped with a low food hygiene rating and owners Greene King now appointed a new general manager.
The Gamekeeper, based on Newark Road in South Hykeham, was told to make major improvements and received a one out of five rating by council inspectors.
Since the inspection on July 10, Greene King has appointed a new general manager and hopes to get the rating back up to five out of five soon.
Inspectors from North Kesteven District Council told the pub to make major improvements in the management of their food safety.
The pub, which is part of the Greene King chain, was also told make improve their hygienic food handling and the cleanliness and conditions of their facilities.
A spokesperson for The Gamekeeper told The Lincolnite: “We take our food hygiene extremely seriously and as soon as we received this rating on July 10 we took swift action to address the points raised by the local authority.
“Since this inspection, we have appointed a new general manager at the pub to ensure the high standards we set for ourselves are maintained and will shortly apply for a reinspection in which we hope to return to our previous five star rating.”
On both Google and Tripadvisor the pub has a three and a half star rating from nearly 1,000 reviews online.

Proposals to close the Springcliffe Surgery in Lincoln’s St Catherines area have emerged, citing several compelling reasons including declining patient numbers, old infrastructure, and escalating operational costs.
Springcliffe Surgery, a branch of the larger Brant Road Surgery, currently serves a fraction of the combined 9,000 patients – providing only 20 weekly appointments compared to the main site’s 550.
