The Lincoln Eastern Bypass has reached the halfway point, and as such a series of road closures will be ramped up in the coming months.
Sleaford Road
The A15 Sleaford Road will close for 14 weekends starting on Friday, September 6 to finish construction of an Eastern Bypass roundabout.
The closures will be in place from 7pm on Friday and 6am on Monday:
6-9 September
13-16 September
20-23 September
27-30 September
4-7 October
11-14 October
18-21 October
25-28 October
1-4 November
8-11 November
15-18 November
22-25 November
29 November to 2 December
13-16 December
The diversion route for the closure will be via A607 Lincoln Road to B1178 White Lane/Tower Lane, and vice versa.
No vehicular through traffic will be allowed to pass through the works while underway, including emergency service vehicles.
Karen Cassar, Assistant Director Highways, said: “We’re set to finish construction of the new Lincoln Road roundabout later this month, which is when the team will be concentrating on getting the one at Sleaford Road built.
“This next series of weekend closures will allow us the time needed to carry out final earthworks, kerbing and street lighting, ahead of laying tarmac for the new Sleaford Road roundabout.
“Similar to the Lincoln Road works, an extended weekend closure will also be needed at some point, most likely in October. However, the specific dates will depend on the how the works progress over the first few weekends. As soon as we have these confirmed, we will let people know.
“We know these closures will undoubtedly cause some disruption for people traveling in and around Lincolnshire, but they are a necessary part of building such a massive piece of infrastructure.
“We want to assure people that everything will be done to keep disruption to a minimum, including doing our best to finish the works early so that we don’t need to use all of the weekend closures we’ve booked.
“Elsewhere on site, work is progressing really well and project team is focussing all their efforts on getting the new road fully built and opened next spring.”
