KFC earmarks Lincoln for two new drive-thrus

Lincoln already has two restaurants

Popular fried chicken takeaway restaurant chain KFC has announced plans to open seven new drive-thru businesses in Lincolnshire, two of which would be in Lincoln.

As part of a nation-wide 150 outlet expansion, the company famed for ‘finger-lickin’ good’ fast food wants to open in 31 possible new locations in the East Midlands.

In Lincolnshire, the earmarked locations are:

  • A1 Colsterworth drive-thru
  • A1 Tuxford to Blyth drive-thru
  • Boston drive-thru
  • Lincoln central drive-thru
  • Lincoln south drive-thru
  • Spalding drive-thru
  • Stamford drive-thru

Some locations have already been agreed, the company added, while others are prospective plots.

KFC currently runs 850 outlets in the UK. It wants this number to grow to more than 1,000 by 2020, with a build rate of 50 per year.

A spokesperson for the company said: “We have bold ambitions to have over 1,000 restaurants in the UK and Ireland by 2020.

“We have a number of different formats and designs that are suitable for all locations. We strive to work with local communities and business’ to bring some finger lickin’ chicken to towns and cities across the country.”

There are currently 13 KFC restaurants, takeaways or drive-thrus in Greater Lincolnshire.

Lincoln has two restaurants at the time of writing, one of which is a drive-thru.
