Lincoln roadworks to cause 10 WEEKS of delays

The roadworks will start next week

Drivers in Lincoln will face around 10 weeks of disruption due to roadworks starting near the International Bomber Command Centre next week.

The Section 278 highways work scheme at Lincoln Road/Canwick Avenue junction is due to start on Monday, September 23, with CR Reynolds appointed as the main contractor for the works.

The working hours for the scheme will be Monday to Friday from 7.30am until 5pm.

The works consist of minor widening on the Lincoln Road and Canwick Avenue junction to accommodate a right turn facility into the International Bomber Command Centre. This will improve traffic flows, safety and accessibility into the centre.

The proposed traffic management measures being used will include narrowing of existing traffic lanes and two or three-way temporary traffic signals at off-peak times.

In addition, there will be four night-time closures from 7pm to 6am between Monday, November 4 and Thursday, November 7.

Sections of the carriageway surface will be replaced and a new pedestrian crossing point with tactile paving will be provided across Canwick Avenue to improve pedestrian safety.

Diversion routes will be clearly signed during the closure period.

Full consideration has been given to alternative means of construction and traffic management.
